Printer tech

Direct thermal prints with heat only. No ribbon. Best for short-life shipping labels that are scanned and gone in days or weeks.

Thermal transfer uses a ribbon. The print lasts longer in heat, sun, or abrasion. Use it when the printer is a transfer (ribbon) model, a direct-thermal printer cannot run transfer labels.

Pick the method that matches the printer. Then choose roll size and adhesive.

Roll size and core

The label width and length must fit the printer. Core size is the cardboard tube the labels wind on.

1″ core, 4-inch desktop printers (ZP-450, LP 2844). This catalog’s 250-count 4×6 packs.
3″ core, industrial 1,000-label 4×6 roll. Will not fit a 1″ desktop spindle.

Adhesive

Permanent is the default for shipping. It grips corrugate and poly mailers and is not meant to come off clean.

Removable peels without tearing the carton when you need to resticker or move a label. Not for long-haul shipping where the label must stay put.
